The Metrel MD9231 is powered by two 1.5 V AAA batteries. To install or replace batteries:

To turn the meter ON, rotate the function switch from the 'OFF' position to any desired measurement function. To turn the meter OFF, rotate the function switch back to the 'OFF' position.
