Before first use, ensure all packaging materials are removed. Place the FoodSaver unit on a flat, stable surface. Connect the power cord to a grounded electrical outlet.

Installing the Bag Roll

1. Open the lid of the FoodSaver unit.
2. Place the FoodSaver bag roll into the designated storage area inside the unit.
3. Pull out enough bag material to extend past the cutting bar.

Standard Vacuum Sealing

1. Place the food item inside a FoodSaver vacuum seal bag, ensuring at least 3 inches of space between the food and the top of the bag.
2. Open the lid and insert the open end of the bag into the vacuum channel. The automatic bag detection will sense the bag.
3. Close the lid firmly until it clicks into place. The unit will automatically begin the vacuum sealing process.
4. Once the vacuum and seal cycle is complete, the indicator lights will turn off. Open the lid and remove the sealed bag.

Using the Retractable Handheld Sealer

The handheld sealer is ideal for FoodSaver zipper bags, containers, and canisters.

1. Remove the handheld sealer from its storage dock.
2. Press the handheld sealer firmly onto the vacuum port of the FoodSaver zipper bag, container, or canister.
3. Press the 'Accessory' or 'Seal' button (refer to your unit's specific controls) to begin vacuuming.
4. The unit will automatically stop when the vacuum is complete. Remove the handheld sealer.

Dry/Moist Food Settings

The FoodSaver 4800 Series features Dry and Moist food settings. Select the appropriate setting based on the food type to ensure optimal vacuum and seal results. The 'Moist' setting provides a stronger seal for foods with liquid content.
